LIVE @ Best Buy is a home for independent artists to showcase their talent and engage the community through Best Buy. LIVE @ Best Buy is an employee initiated program that provides artists from all genres and experience levels an opportunity to play on our stages in New York, Philadelphia & Boston.
The program was originally conceived in March 2009 by store employee Roberto Irizarry (pictured left). His vision was for the company to provide opportunities for talented local musicians to be seen and heard. With the support of Best Buy’s NYC District Manager, Phill Chacra (pictured center), and Technical Director Adam Schneider (pictured right), Irizarry started hosting performances on our first stage inside our Chelsea store located on 23rd St and 6th Ave.
In November 2009 a second stage opened inside our new flagship store in Union Square. With a killer location and a full Musical Instruments department as a backdrop, ‘The Stage at Union Square’ has quickly become our most popular performance venue. In the following months we opened our third and fourth stages at Columbus Circle and Spanish Harlem respectively. Over the next few months we opened two more stages in NYC at our Columbus Circle and Spanish Harlem locations. The program has recently expanded to include full stages in Boston, MA (on Newbury St) and Oxford Valley, PA (just north of Philadelphia).
Live @ Best Buy is an artist friendly program that has quickly become known within the local community as a great opportunity to do what every musician wants to do…PLAY!
